Security Alarm in Bengal: Mamata plans an ambush at PM Modi's rally; nervous SPG writes to DGP

New Delhi, News24 Bureau, May 16: An alarm bell has been set-off alarm bell by the Special Protection Group, which is responsible for the security and safety of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.PM Modi is all set for two rallies; one at Mathurapur and the other at Dum Dum. Not in an ambush of sorts, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has also planned a rally at Mathurapura, just before the PM's rally.This has set off an alarm bell amid the SPG, which has now brought the entire security concern and the events to the notice of the Director General of Police (DGP). the venue of Mamata's rally is just next to that of the PM"s rally venue.

During his rally at Mau earlier today, PM Modi jestfully said, it remains to be seen if Mamata didi allows my rally in Bengal to take place.

 PM Narendra Modi will be holding a rally in West Bengal today and he dares CM Mamata Banerjee assuring in the same breath that a grand statue of Ishwarchand Vidyasagar will be installed on the same spot

PM Modi has challenged Mamata directly, "Let's see if didi allows this rally or not."PM Narendra Modi is in Mau, Uttar Pradesh today and will visit West Bengal later. PM has squarely placed the blame on the desecration of Vidyasagar's bust in Kolkata during Amit Shah's rally on the ruling Trinamool Congress party.

"We saw hooliganism by TMC workers again during Bhai Amit Shah's roadshow in Kolkata. They vandalized Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar's statue. We are committed to Vidyasagar's vision and will install his grand statue at the same spot," Modi said.The PM also accused the TMC of hooliganism during his rally in Mednipur, Bengal. "Some months back during my rally in West Medinipur, TMC goons indulged in hooliganism. After this in Thakurnagar the situation was such that I had to cut short my speech and was forced to leave the stage."
