New Delhi, News24 Bureau, Nov 28: In the latest Muzaffarpur shelter home case of Bihar Supreme Court has orderd for transferring investigation against all the 17 shelter homes and their owners in the state to CBI. A TISS report had alleged sexual abuse of children.
Supreme Court had earlier come down heavily on Bihar government over its failure to file correct first information report in Muzaffarpur shelter home abuse case and gives 24 hours to it add charges under Section 377 (sodomy) of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Children for Sexual Offences Act in the FIR."If we find that there were offences under Section 377 of the IPC and POCSO Act and you did not register FIR, we will pass an order against the government," the SC said.Slamming the Bihar government, the SC had said, "What are you doing? It's shameful. If the child is sodomised you say it's nothing? How can you do this? It's inhuman. We were told that the matter will be looked with great seriousness, this is seriousness? Every time I read this file it's tragic."
Opposition leader Nitish Kumar has come down heavily on the Nitish Kumar government. Ever since the case broke out, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had been keeing a watchful eye on the entire development. He said, "It took two months to file FIR in the case and even then name of the main accused wasn’t included. All the names coming up in the case are of those close to Nitish Kumar. The CM is trying his best to brush the case under the carpet: Tejashwi Yadav on Muzaffarpur shelter case ."
The SC asked counsel appearing for the Central Bureau of Investigation to take instruction if the agency can investigate the cases relating to sexual assault in nine out of 17 shelter homes in Bihar named in the Tata Institute of Social Sciences report.
