Rebranded Redmi S2 for Xiaomi's Indian fans

New Delhi, May 16: After launching company's first smartphone in its Redmi S-Series in China, it is expected that Redmi S2 will be launched in India on June 7. The highlight of Redmi S2 is its front-facing camera sporting a 16-megapixel sensor with 2-micron pixels combined with AI-based beautification features, making it the 'best Redmi selfie phone' ever, as per the company claims. 

Apart from this, Redmi S2 sports 18:9 display, a dual camera setup at the rear, iPhone-style antenna lines, Snapdragon 625 SoC, Face Unlock feature and Xiao Ai voice assistant.

To build up the hype among the fans, the Chinese smartphone maker is using the hashtag #RealYou, with the "Y" in there being differently colored - giving us a hint that upcoming device will be in the Y series. Rumors also suggest that rebranded Redmi S2 could be launched as Redmi Y2 in India as it features the same specifications as Redmi S2 launched earlier.

Redmi S2 features a 5.99-inch HD+ display, powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM depending on the model. For photography, the Redmi S2 sports a dual camera setup at the rear panel, with a combination of 12-megapixel and a 5-megapixel camera.On the front, Redmi S2 bears a 16-megapixel sensor with 2-microns pixels combined with AI Portrait Mode, AI Smart Beauty and Face Unlock.

The smartphone will be available in 32GB and 64GB  storage variants which can be expandable up to 256GB  via microSD card slot. On the connectivity options, Redmi S2 includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB port. 

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 will run on MIUI 9 based on Android backed by a 3080mAh battery.
