New Delhi, News24 Bureau, July 16: Katrina Kaif, who made her Bollywood debut in 2003 film 'Boom' has come a long way. She has worked in a number of films but the gorgeous diva Katrina received recognition only when she got an opportunity to work with Bollywood's 'Dabangg' star Salman Khan in the film 'Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?' Katrina is basking in the success of her recent release 'Bharat' and to celebrate her special day she headed to Mexico.
As the diva turned a year older today, here we have compiled few unknown facts about the 'Bharat' actress Katrina.
Katrina's first payment:
After her Bollywood debut, Katrina appeared in Telugu film titled Malliswari in 2004. Reportedly, Katrina got Rs 75 lakh for the film which was said to be the highest fees paid to a female actor in the South Indian industry.
Katrina was offered her first film 'Boom' when the filmmaker Kaizad Gustad saw her at a fashion show in London for the first time.
Katrina collaborated with AR Rahman for a music album titled 'Rhymeskool' for a social cause. The fund received from it was used to build a school in Madurai.
Katrina's love life:
Katrina's name often gets linked to Salman Khan. She also opened up about her relationship with Salman for the first time in 2011 and was quoted saying, “Salman Khan was my first serious relationship.”
Katrina and Bollywood Khans:
Katrina is an actress who has worked with all the big Khans of Bollywood. She has worked with Salman Khan in 'Ek Tha Tiger', 'Tiger Zinda Hai', 'Bharat' and many other films. She has worked with Aamir Khan in 'Dhoom 3', and with Shah Rukh Khan in 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' and in 'Zero'.
Katrina's real name:
Katrina's real surname was Turquotte, but the 'Boom' producer Ayesha Shroff changed it to Kazi and later Kaif. Talking about it, Ayesha said, “We wanted to give her a surname which would be accepted by the Indian audience. We thought of naming her Katrina Kazi, but then we thought Kazi would have a religious overtone. So we finalised on Kaif.”
Katrina is half Indian and half British as her father Mohammed Kaif is a British businessman of Kashmiri descent.
Katrina has British citizenship and she works on an employment visa in India.
The endorsement fees of Katrina is reportedly Rs 5 crore. She recently became a brand ambassador for Reebok. Talking about it, Katrina said, “It is important for me that the product I endorse should deliver on its promise.”
Katrina also has a Barbie doll modelled on her and interestingly she is the first Bollywood actress to have it.
