New Delhi, Oct 14: His father, an ex-serviceman, died saving lives and hard earned money of others. His 11-year old son is proud of his father.“He didn’t get an opportunity to face a bullet for his country while in service (air force) but he laid down his life at his workplace to save others,” says 16-year old Aryan, son of cashier Santosh Sharma. Cashier at the Corporation Bank in Chhawla, 45-year old Sharma was shot dead during a dacoity attempt on Friday. Sharma had retired as a junior warrant officer of the Indian Air Force. Family remembers him as a man who never gave up in any situation. It is this attitude that took his life, says family.Aryan was supposed to go for his birthday shopping with his father on Saturday. Father was about to gift him laptop on his 17th birthday on Oct 27. Calling his father as “one of most disciplined and courageous men”, Aryan is still trying to understand what has suddenly happened in life. “He taught us to never bend. I am sure he would have fought the gunmen and that was why he alone was shot. If the dacoits had to kill, they would have killed others too and not just my father,” says Aryan recalling father.Story so farA 45-year-old cashier working with Corporation Bank was gunned down here on Friday by six criminals when he tried to stop them from looting over Rs 3 lakh, police said.As the criminals were snatching cash from the victim, Santosh Kumar, at gun point in the bank at Dwarka's Chhawla, he resisted their attempts, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Giriraj Singh told IANS."Two bullets hit him. The robbers escaped with over Rs 3 lakh," Singh said.Kumar was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead by doctors, the officer added. The incident occurred at around 3.45 p.m.The police said six armed criminals, their faces masked, came on two motorcycles, barged into the bank and snatched the security guard's rifle before threatening the bank employees with dire consequences if they moved from their place, Singh said.But Kumar did just that -- and got killed."The entire crime has been captured on CCTV and efforts are on to identify the accused," said the officer.A day after robbers gunned down a bank cashier and looted over Rs 3 lakh from a bank in the national capital, the Delhi Police on Saturday arrested two out of the six criminals from Haryana's Sonipat, a senior police officer said."The accused have been identified as Sachin, 21, and Parvesh, 19. They were arrested from Haryana's Sonipat, and the police are trying to arrest the other four," Deputy Commissioner of Police Anto Alphonse said.The robbery took place at around 3.45 p.m on Friday in a bank located in Dwarka's Chhawla area in west Delhi."The robbers had come on two motorcycles and had their faces masked. They barged into the bank and snatched the security guard's rifle before threatening the bank employees with dire consequences if they moved from their place," Alphonse said.As the criminals were snatching cash from deceased cashier Santosh Kumar in the bank, he resisted their attempt. He was fired at twice and got killed, according to the officer."The robbers escaped with over Rs 3 lakh," he said, adding that "the entire crime has been captured in CCTV and efforts are on to nab the remaining accused".
