New Delhi, News24 Bureau, Dec 12: South superstar Rajinikanth turns a year older today. Popularly known as the Thalaiva, Rajinikanth has contributed not just to South cinema but in Hindi films as well. Rajinikanth is celebrating his 69th birthday today and on his special day, here we have compiled a list of his popular works in Bollywood. In his three-decades-old career, Rajinikanth has worked in 20 Hindi movies. He has delivered few blockbusters like Sivaji, Enthiran (known as Robot to Bollywood audiences), Kabaali and more recently Kaala.
Rajinikanth made his Bollywood debut with Andha Kanoon in 1983 and today on the occasion of his 69th birthday, here's a compilation of his much acknowledged Hindi Films
In an interview earlier, Rajinikanth said, "In the cinema world, Rajinikanth is probably a king. But Amitabh Bachchan is the emperor." Andha Kanoon featured both, the King and the emperor. Andha Kanoon which marks Rajinikanth's Bollywood debut also features Hema Malini in a lead role. It was a story of surveillance featuring Rajnikanth as vigilant Vijay Singh. Amitabh Bachchan who has the name Vijay associated with him in most of the films united with Rajinikanth to seek revenge in this Bollywood drama which no movie maniac can forget.
Bhagwan Dada saw the evolution of Rajinikanth's career in Bollywood. Predictable by the name of the movie, the Thalaiva played a character as big as of a Godfather. Bhagwaan Dada was directed by J Om Prakash and featured Rakesh Roshan, Sridevi, Tina Munim, and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. The movie had a realistic resemblance to Rajinikanth's real-life character and no one other than he could have done the role with this brilliancy.
The film was inspired by Yash Chopra's classic movie Trishul. Apart from Rajinikanth, the film also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Rajnikanth played the character of a rich and wealthy guy in Uttar Dakshin which was unlike his usual action-oriented films. The theme of the movie was comic and is one of Rajini's most talked Bollywood films.
The movie followed the concept of Dilip Kumar starrer Ram Aur Shyaam. It featured Sridevi in a double role and Rajinikanth played the role of a taxi driver. The movie saw Thalaiva back in action and Sunny Deol accompanied him in this thrilling comedy ride.
Aatank Hi Aatank
Inspired by the critically acclaimed Hollywood series The Godfather, Aatank Hi Aatank was Rajinikanth's last Hindi film in a lead role. The movie also featured Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla and Archana Joglekar in important roles. Rajinikanth played the role of Munna, an orphan who used to work hard to lead a normal life. Aamir played the role of Rajinikanth's brother in the movie who teams up him to make the movie a memorable one.
