Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat: 'We want structural changes in GST'

New Delhi, Nov 11: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi visits Akshardham Temple in Gujarat's Gandhinagar. This is Rahul's fourth 3-day Gujarat tour. This visit is crucial as it is being seen as Congress' bid to woo Patidas and Thakors.

Rahul Gandhi in Chiloda, Gandhinagar while addressing a gathering said that due to Congress pressure the BJP government was left with no option than to make corrections in GST. But the Congress leader stressed that they wanted structural changes in GST and this was not enough.

That Patidars will play a crucial role in the forthcoming Gujarat election is a fact. A couple of days back Congress senior leader Kapil Sibbal had a late-night meeting with the Patel leaders and, as reports suggest, it concluded on a hopeful note.

Members of the Hardik Patel-led Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) started holding talks with senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal late tonight here to know how the party plans to grant reservation to Patidars if voted to power in the upcoming Assembly polls in Gujarat.

Gandhi has been spearheading an aggressive campaign in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat, where Assembly polls will be held next month. The Congress has been out of power in the state for over two decades.

The polling for the two-phase elections in the state will take place on December 9 and 14 and votes will be counted on December 18.
