Amethi, April 22: Is Priyanka Gandhi getting ready for the BIG FIGHT against PM Narendra in Varanasi? Looking at the increasing agression in her campaigning and way she is raising national issues at grass root level, it seems so. Seeking votes for Rahul Gandhi, she attacked PM Narendra Modi for creating joblessness and hurting traders with GST.Upping the ante against PM Modi, Priyanka said that Modi never visits villages in Varanasi and there was no development there. She was countering allegations by Smriti Irani that Amethi has seen no development with Rahul as MP. "I have been visiting UP...I have seen the pain of the farmers who complain that stray cattle is destroying their fields...I have heard small traders complain of GST worries...I have seen youth at the crossings lament about joblessness...," she said.Dubbing the BJP's Amethi candidate Smriti Irani as an "outsider", Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday accused her of distributing shoes in order to insult Rahul Gandhi and said the people in the Congress chief's Lok Sabha constituency are not beggars. On Monday, she was apparently furious that Irani was trying to do Rahul's work by distributing shoes to the locals and show that the villagers had seen no development.Interacting with the voters in this key parliamentary constituency, the Congress general secretary in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh said the people of Amethi and Rae Bareli have self-respect and they do not beg from anyone."...if anyone has to beg, it is them (BJP), who will beg for your votes," a visibly agitated Priyanka told the voters in the presence of reporters at a "nukkad sabha".She also slammed "outsider" Irani for distributing shoes in Amethi."She (Irani) thinks she can insult Rahul Gandhi by doing this," Priyanka said, adding that the Union minister was in fact insulting the people of Amethi."The people of Amethi are very sensible. You all know who was going to open a food park in Amethi and the fact that it has not been opened till now. The food park would have benefitted five lakh farmers in Amethi and Rae Bareli," she said. The tone of her speech and campaigning gives clear hints that Congress President may soon announce her candidature in next few days. "I am ready to contest and will contest from Varanasi if Rahul Gandhi asks me," Priyanka had said on Sunday.
