New Delhi: The women's wing of Republican Party of India (Athawale faction) have objected to a condom advertisement (tv commercial) featuring the actress Sunny Leone for its "obscene expressions".
Sheela Gangurde, the national secretary of RPI's women's wing, said in a statement here that she had taken up the issue with the Union I&B Ministry. "Expressions of the actor in this advertisement are obscene and against the Indian culture," she said.
If the government didn't act, RPI will approach the State Women's Commission, she said.
Meanwhile, Sunny Leone said, “One of the greatest things about India is the democracy and freedom of speech. If people want to raise their voice against me, they can go ahead and do it. Only the government can decide what’s best for the citizens.”
“When I sign up for a brand, I take moral responsibility for it. It’s like bringing a baby into the world. A couple goes ahead with the decision of starting a family only when it is responsible enough to take care of the child," she further added.
