Lucknow: After 112 years in business, for iconic Tunday Kababi, Yogi Adityanath’s UP government has brought a tsunami that swept away Kababi’s USP- crispy kebabs made of buffalo meat.
Following Yogi’s order of crackdown on illegal slaughter houses, Tunday Kababi remained closed for a day on Wednesday, first time since the shop was opened in 1905. Now, Tunday is only offering chicken kebabs, bad news for crispy kebab lovers. Buffalo meat is rough and thus kebabs made from it are crispy.
Shop remained closed on Wednesday due to shortage of buffalo meat. Tunday “There is a problem in procuring buffalo meat at the moment and hence we had no option but to stop selling the kebabs that used to be our USP,” owner Mohammad Usman was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
“These kebabs used to be among the most-sold mainly because of their taste and affordability,” Usman added. About 60kg of buffalo meat is consumed each day for making kebabs.
Ask Lucknowites, they will tell you- visit to Lucknow without having Tunday’s galouti kebabs is like going to Agra and not visiting Taj Mahal.
