New Delhi: Keeping in mind the repeated high-level terror attacks in Punjab, six months ago in Gurdaspur and now in Pathankot, Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has sought to increase the security deployment along its border.
While expressing his rising concerns of the terror in state, Badal said that he has made central government aware of the threats; and it’s time they consider these areas sensitive, too.
"We are writing to the central government. There is not as much BSF deployment on the Punjab border as compared to J&K border. They should increase deployment in this area; this is the second/third time such incident has happened in Punjab,” he said.
He announced that a special commando unit will be established and stationed in Pathankot to counter any terror activity. “Punjab Police will act as the second line of defence whereas BSF will be first line of defence,” he added.
