NIA tightens its grip on Hurriyat, raids continue for third day

New Delhi, Sep 7:Coming down heavily on the cross border funding of the separatist movement in the valley, NIA raided residence of another Hurriyat leader  and Shia Cleric Aaga Syed Hasan at Budgam in Central Kashmir. The raids are still on.

NIA also raided residence of another Hurriyat (Geelani) leader Ghulam Nabi Sumji at Bijbihara Anantnag in South Kashmir, say sources to News24. 

On Wednesday swooping down on few traders and alleged hawala dealers, the NIA yesteday carried out searches at 27 places in various parts of the Valley and Delhi and seized nearly Rs 2.20 crore in cash in raids relating to probe into terror-funding activities in the state.

During the operations, that began in the morning, houses and business establishments of those suspected of channelising funds to fuel secessionist and anti-India activities were searched, an NIA spokesman said here.

"During the searches, cash amounting to approximately Rs 2.20 crores were recovered," he said. The spokesman said various digital devices including laptops, mobile phones and hard drives have also been seized during the searches. Aasif Suhaf, News24Bureau
