New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh continues to be nerve centre of Indian politics, and the road to the seat of power in Delhi passes through UP. The polls in UP are not just assembly elections, the results will give a picture of what will happen in Lok Sabha elections in 2019. Understanding the political importance of state, News24 has organised a conclave on UP polls in Lucknow. Top leaders of all political parties have confirmed their participation.
`News24 Uttar Pradesh Manthan' will see UP CM and Samajawadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and bete noire Shivpal Yadav come together- first time after the Election Commission awarded the 'Bicycle' to Akhilesh.
The seasoned anchors of News24, captained by Editor-in-Chief Anurradha Prasad, will grill the politicians with razor-sharp questions on why the people should vote for them and what they bring to the table for development of Uttar Pradesh.
The politicians will be made to answer direct questions by the public also. UP voters will get an insight on what different political parties think on contentious issues, apart from their plans for women empowerment, minorities, employment and development. This will help the voters in choosing the right candidate for their precious vote.
Terming the News24 Manthan as a step towards voter empowerment, channel's Editor-in-Chief Anurradha Prasad said," News24 is 'Har Hindustani ka channel', and our effort always is to confront the political leadership with the issues that bother a common man. UP Manthan will enable the voters to understand the mind of the politicians and what they will offer if voted to power. Like in the past, News24 is covering the elections extensively, and this Manthan is part of this wide and incisive coverage. After a lot of brain storming and hard work, the editorial and marketing teams of the channel have come up with this special programme. It is going to be biggest news programme just before the polls."
Preparations for the programme have started at the Taj Hotel in Lucknow, and the day-long Uttar Pradesh Manthan will be seen live on January 23. (News24Bureau)
