New media is vehicle of social change: Galgotia Univ VC

Greater Noida, Oct 6: Galgotia University Vice Chancellor Renu Luthra has called upon the students of Journalism & Mass Communication to master the art of new media and digital technologies for ushering in a change in the life and society of the nation. Luthra was inaugurating a two- day national conference on “ Emerging Trends and Culture of New Media and Technologies”, organized by the  School of Media and Communication Studies  at Galgotia College of Engineering and Technology here.  As part of the conference, a panel discussion was held on  “Media Revamps in Digital Age: Current and Future Scenarios”. The discussion began with exchange of views exchanged on superiority of digital media over traditional media. Panelists said that source of information is the key to knowledge, techniques, process and experiences are a result of travelled journey by media. The relevance and credibility are the main cornerstones of the felicitated news or information since whoever controls the media controls the mind, felt the panelists.  The panelists opined that traditional media is not a counterpart but the wheel of the same vehicle so the traditional media and digital media should work in harmony. On the second day of the conference a workshop on Peace Journalism was conducted by Prof Ruheela Hasan,  HoD Department of  Journalism and Mass Communication , IUST , Anantpura ,Kashmir. The two day national conference had participants from India and abroad along with eminent media dignitaries that provided a real time deep insight into the new media landscape to the students an scholars.Abhiskhek Shukla, Managing Director, Eureka Publications, Mr. Ashish Kaul, CEO, Prakash Jha Productions, Prof. Debashis  Chakrabarti, Dean School of Media and Communication Studies and Prof (Dr) Bandana Pandey, Associate Dean of School of Media and Communication Studies also attended the conference.News24 Bureau
