New Delhi, News24 Bureau, June 11: Samajwadi Party founder and patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav was admitted to a private hospital Medanta, in Gurugram here on Monday night, according to party spokesperson. Yadav was admitted to Medanta Hospital after being flown from Lucknow.Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Yadav at his residence in Lucknow and enquired about his health.The 79-year-old leader was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow on Sunday for a routine check-up after his blood sugar level rose. According to the sources, the reports were normal.
He was discharged after a few hours. Medanta Hospital authorities could not be contacted immediately for an update on his health condition.
Although the two are sworn enemies, BJP leader and CM Yogi Adityanath had met Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son and party President Akhilesh Yadav at Mulayam's residence in Lucknow on Monday.
Samajwadi Party supremo was admitted to the hospital on Sunday due to high levels of blood sugar and was being treated by Doctor Bhuvan Chandra Tiwari.
"Met the former chief minister of the state and the founder of Samajwadi Party, Mulayam Singh Yadavji, at his residence today and asked about his well being. Pray to God for his speedy recovery," Adityanath tweeted after his visit.
Shivpal Singh Yadav, Mulayam Singh's brother along with former minister Ahmad Hasan, had also visited the veteran when he was in the hospital.
Sources suggest that all was not that well and therefore for further medical supervision and advice he was brought to this reputed hospital.
He served for three non-consecutive terms as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 1989 to 1991, 1993 to 1995, and 2003 to 2007 respectively and also served as the Minister of Defence from 1996 to 1998 in the United Front government. The sworn champion of the lower caste and minorities was a wrestler first and his journey to the top position has been very interesting.
