New Delhi, May 21: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has made a startling claim, alleging that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was planning to have him assassinated.
Trying to raise parallels with the assasination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Kejriwal claimed that his personal security officers (PSO) were actually reporting to the BJP government at the Centre.
Indira Gandhi was killed in 1984 by two of her Sikh bodyguards in the wake of Operation Blue Star which caused extensive damage to the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
Kejriwal has made such claims in the past as well. He had posted a sensational YouTube video in 2016 in which he had Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah of trying to kill him.
He also lalbelled Modi as the mastermind behind the arrest of several AAP legislators.
The latest claim by Kejriwal comes in the aftermath of the Lok Sabha elections with exit polls predicting a massive victory for the BJP.
However, despite his allegations against the ruling party, the AAP supremo has not lodged any complaints with the police, preferring instead to give voice to his fears while talking to a news channel in Punjab, where he was campaigning.
