New Delhi: Immortal really means you don't die at all, but immortality can be a curse rather than a blessing as people prefer quality life rather than long life.
But do we have any creature that can live forever, the answer is "Yes". its Turritopsis dohrnii the immortal jellyfish, it is a species of small, biologically immortal jellyfish.
The Turritopsis Nutricula has the ability to revert back to a juvenile form once it mates after becoming sexually mature.
Once Turritopsis Nutricula turns to an adult form of the 4.5 mm-wide species and has reproduced, they don’t die but transform themselves back into their young polyp state. Their bodies shrink, their tentacles retract, and they sink to the ocean floor and start the life cycle all over again.
As per the laboratory samples, all the adult Turritopsis observed regularly undergo this change. And not for just once: they can do it over again and again.
Turritopsis dohrnii are originally from the Caribbean but have spread all over the world.
This immortal jellyfish is technically known as a hydrozoan and is the only known animal that is capable of reverting completely to its younger self.
The only way Turritopsis can die if they are eaten by predators or succumbing to disease.
