Maggi found unsafe for health, Rs 45 lakh fine on Nestle India

New Delhi, Nov 29: Shahjahanpur District Administration imposes Rs 45 lakhs fine on Nestle India after Maggi samples failed lab test. The samples were collected late last year. Rs 17 lakhs fine was imposed on three distributors also.

Two years back, in 2015, a Bihar court had ordered that an FIR be registered against Maggi brand ambassadors Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta and arrest the cinestars, if required, even as Nestle India faced trouble in more states over safety of the popular instant food.

Samples of Maggi noodles taken in the capital were found "unsafe" for consumption during tests by Delhi Government while state-run retail outlets in Kerala were ordered to withdraw these products and Karnataka and Haryana directing random lifting of this food item for scrutiny. A fatal substance identified as MSG was found in the product, which was at the bottom of the row.
