Live: Congress blocked all development of Chhattisgarh: PM Modi

New Delhi, Nov 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi are in Chhattisgarh today to campaign for the first phase of the Assembly elections in the state.

Modi will address a rally in Bastar district's headquarters, Jagdalpur, while Gandhi will tour the state for two days during which he will address five rallies and hold a road show in Chief Minister Raman Singh's constituency, Rajnandgaon.

"This will be the PM's first election rally for the state Assembly polls. It will add power to the party's campaign," the spokesperson added.

Here are the live updates:

"A brave and innocent cameraman from DD, Achutyanand Sahu was killed by Maoists.  Recently our valiant jawans were also martyred in an encounter with Maoists, and for Congress party these Maoists are revolutionaries? What sort of vocabulary is this?", asked PM Modi.

"I don't know why Congress makes fun of adivasis. Once I had gone for a rally to the Northeast of our country and there had worn a traditional adivasi headgear but Congress leaders made fun of that hat, it was an insult of adivasi culture," PM Modi remarked.

"For 10 years, Congress was at the Centre, but they never paid attention to the needs of Chhattisgarh and blocked all development for the state. They never thought of the region's progress," said PM Modi

"I urge the people of Bastar to teach a fitting lesson to the Congress leaders, who on one hand try to shield the urban Maoists, and in Chhattisgarh, they speak about freeing the state from Maoists," said PM Modi at a public rally in Jagdalpur.

"We need to make all round development with everyone's support," added PM Narendra Modi.

"Urban Maoists live in AC surroundings, move around in big cars and their children study abroad, but they ruin the lives of our poor Adivasi youth here through remote control. Why is Congress supporting these Urban Maoists," asked PM Modi.
