New Delhi: The voting to the MCD election in the national capital ends, but never before has there been a national interest in a local election. The main being the on-going tussle between the BJP and AAP.
And the final results will show who is the current favourite for the people of Delhi. There was a contradiction of sorts during the General Election in 2014 as though BJP had emerged as the single largest party it was defeated badly by AAP in the Assembly elections the same year. Also the safety and security in the national capital along with it being declared the den for diseases like dengue and chikungunya are also the reasons why the MCD election has become the closely watched event.
The three civic bodies- East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) cover 68 of the 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi. The three main contenders are AAP, Congress and the BJP which has won the last two terms and is expecting a hat-trick.
