New Delhi, Nov 3: The linking of Aadhaar with your mobile number is mandatory, though there is uncertainty on the last date. In this backdrop, the government has introduced new easy methods to the link the two sitting at home.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has introduced the three new rules - through one-time password, App based and the interactive voice response (IVRS) facility, to link the Aadhaar with the mobile number.
With this, the subscribers can now link their registered mobile numbers to Aadhaar without visiting the telecom service providers' stores.
According to the new guidelines, the telecom operators should provide an online mechanism for people to request such service and based on availability schedule the visit and complete the process.
Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has said that from December 1, you can link your Aadhaar number with mobile number your home. "No need to give finger prints to local SIM card retailer for your mobile phone verification... From December 1, 2017, you can do it from comfort of your home through OTP received on mobile number registered with Aadhaar," tweeted UIDAI.
Under the process, an OTP will be sent sent to your mobile number and/ or e-mail address. "The Aadhaar number holder shall provide this OTP along with his Aadhaar number during authentication and the same shall be matched with the OTP generated by the Authority," says the UIDAI website - uidai.gov.in.
