1 Thappad
Cast: Tapsee Pannu
Thappad is based on an Indian drama and is one of the best Hindi movies of 2020 on Amazon Prime. The film stars Tapsee Pannu as the main lead in the movie, where she plays the role of Amrita who lived a happy and perfect life but was shattered when her husband slapped her at a party. This incident changes her life completely and leads to a divorce. Thappad is directed by Anubhav Sinha who presented the realistic story and the patriarchial routines rooted in Indian households.
2 Gulabo Sitabo
Cast: Amitabh Bachan, Ayushman Khurana, Farrukh Jaffar
Gulabo Sitabo is a comedy drama film directed by Shoojit Sircar, which can be streamed on Amazon Prime. Amitabh Bacchan plays the role of the Greedy old man while Farrukh is his 17 year older wife who is the actual owner of the Fatima Mahal whose rooms are leased to some tenants, and one of the tenants is Ayushman khurana. This story shows the feud between the poor tenant and a house owner.
3 Mardaani 2
Cast: Rani Mukherjee
Mardaani 2 is an action thriller film released in 2019. Rani Mukherjee plays the role of the cop where Vishal jethwa plays the role of a psychopath who kidnaps, rape and torture the outspoken girls which brutally disturbs Rani.
4 Laxmii
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani
Laxmii is a sequel of a Tamil film ‘Kanchana’ which was released in 2011, directed by Raghava Lawrence. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani, where Akshay Kumar plays the role of Asif who lives with his wife Rashmi (Kiara) and his late brother’s son. Asif gets possessed by the spirit of Laxmi who is a transgender. This film was recently released on Disney Hotstar.
5 Newton
Cast: Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil, Raghubir Yadav
Newton is a black comedy drama film where Rajkumar plays a role of a government servant who is sent to conduct elections in Centeral India. He tries to conduct the fair elections despite many obstacles. The film has won many filmfares including the best story.
