New Delhi, Nov 3: Anil Kumble is back in a turban. In his new avtaar he is a left arm bowler. And guess what, he has repeated his performance of 10 wickets in an innings again. What is the real story of Kumble's rebirt of sorts? We will tell the full story in detail.
Well, it is story about a young spinner from Puducherry who has emulated Kumble's feat of 10 wickets. He is left arm spinner Sidak Singh who achieved the feat in a Colonel CK Nayudu U-23 fixture. Against Manipur, the youngster took all the 10 scalps for 71 giving away just 31 runs at the CAP Siechem Ground on Saturday. He returned with magical figures of 17.5-7-31-10.The story of Sidak is quite interesting. He is originally from Mumbai, but was picked by Puducherry as an outstation player for this season. It was in 2015, that Sidak was selected for Mumbai as an U-15 player for the West Zone T20 Cricket Championship. That has made Sidak second youngest player after Sachin Tendulkar to selected for Mumbai senior side. Sachin had done so at 14. Known for his Bishan Singh Bedi-like style, sidak had played 7 T20s for Mumbai. During his stint he was quite popular in Mumbai cricket. But then bad luck struck. BCCI took action against him for reported suspect bowling action. As luck would have it, he is back with a BANG!However, Sidak is not the only bowler to claim 10 wickets in an innings of CK Nayudu trophy. Earlier, Railways’ fast bowler Karan Thakur had taken 10 wickets in 2013. Then CK Nayudu trophy was an U-25 tournament.News24 Bureau(Photo: Internet)
