New Delhi, June 7: Reliance Jio has come up with another offer to lure its customers. For availing Jio GigaFiber broadband service a customer had to earlier pay a security deposit of Rs. 4,500. But now the rate has been slashed. Now, the customers have to only pay 2,500 which is 2,000 lower than the previous rate.
As per the new version, Jio is offering a single band router, an inferior optical network terminal (ONT) device.
Their broadband service on the new device, however, is apparently identical to what was offered on the existing GigaHub Home Gateway.
Residents of the cities like Chennai and Mumbai are now reportedly able to avail services by paying a security deposit of Rs. 2,500. The amount is refundable in nature. Earlier, one had to pay 4,500 security deposit which was also a refundable amount. Jio GigaFiber is yet to see a pan-India rollout.
The speed of the single band router under this service is limited to 50Mbps. Voice services are also expected to see some fresh offers.
Previously, the Jio Home Gateway supported dual-band connectivity with 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. With the currently offered plan, the device is now capable of offering 1Gbps speeds. User can avail a free 1,100GB monthly data access with this new version of Jio GigaFiber service.
Reportedly, an early subscribers has said that on DreamDTH forums also brings access to the Jio TV app.
Uncertainty looms large over the previous model as the new developments may hinder its roll out across India in the months to come.
The subscribers to the previous model are complaining about the delay in the launch of voice services on their JioGigaFiber connections.
Last year, Reliance Industries at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) revealed that the Jio GigaFiber would act as an all-in-one solution as it aims to offer broadband, landline, IPTV, landline, video conferencing, VR gaming, and smart home connectivity through a unified model at a one go.
