Jashn-E-Youngistan 2018 to felicitate Dutee Chand

New Delhi, Nov 23: Dutee Chand needs no introduction for any Indian. Dutee Chand is a professional sprinter and current national champion in the women’s 100 metres event. She holds the record of the third Indian woman to ever qualify for the Women’s 100 metres event at the Summer Olympic Games. Chand clinched silver in women’s 100m at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. It was the first silver medal in this category after 32 years since P.T.Usha won in 1986 and India’s first medal in 20 years in this event since 1998 and Chand’s first medal in Asian games.

Since Saraswati Saha’s gold in 2002 at Busan, Chand's 200 m silver medal was after 16 years for India. She clinched two bronze medals at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships at Bhubaneswar. Her success encouraged many women in the country to take up athletics as a career.
