Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorists attack BSF camp in Kupwara; 3 jawans, 1 civilian injured

Kupwara: In a terror attack at the Border Security Force camp at Karnah, which is located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, three soldiers and a porter were injured. Following the attack, a clash broke out between security forces and terrorists.


The encounter is still on, the police said adding that the injured were being airlifted to Army's base hospital in Srinagar.


With no signs of improvement, the unrest in Kashmir has extended for a 42 consecutive day today. Curfew has been extended to several places in Kashmir as a precautionary measure in view of the call for a march to Arip Than area of Budgam district given by separatists against the death of four civilians in clashes between Central Reserve Police Force and protesters on August 16.


Yesterday, an ambulance driver was shot at and injured allegedly by security forces in Safakadal area of downtown Srinagar while he was ferrying a patient from Ganderbal district to SMHS hospital.


Schools, colleges and private offices remained closed while public transport remained off roads. The attendance in government offices was thin. Mobile internet and telephony services also remained suspended.

As many as 64 persons including two police personnel have been killed and several thousand others injured in the clashes that began on July 9.
