New Delhi: Breaking old records and creating new ones is like having daily breakfast for world's top spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin. He has just created a new one while helping India complete first-clean sweep in test series abroad. Ashwin took 17 wickets in 3 test series against Sri Lanka in the 3-match series.
Ashwin picked up 6 wickets in the third and final Test at Pallekele which finished in just three days on Monday. With this Ashwin now has 38 wickets on Sri Lankan soil in test matches. This makes him the highest overseas wicket taking bowler in Test cricket in Sri Lanka alongside Pakistani off-spinner Saeed Ajmal. The two have one wicket more than the Australian legend Shane Warne, who has taken 37 ahgainst the Lankan in Sri Lanka.
With 30 wickets each, Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram, New Zealand's left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori and Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble are at the third place.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Ashwin will play for Worcestershire in the English County after the test series as he has been rested for the ODI series, an ESPNcricinfo report said on Monday
