VIDEO: PM inspires fitness in New India, ministers hit gyms

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi is a fitness freak, and banks on yoga to keep himself alert and active throughout his 18-hour work schedule. His young ministers have taken a leaf out of his book. In fact, two ministers seem to be challenging the Bollywood stars in terms of fitness.

PM Modi’s day starts with yoga. And, he has proved his fitness by working for long hours without showing any signs of tiredness or fatigue. This has inspired the ministers, who are not only challenging colleagues, but also asking the young India to stay fit.

It started with Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju tweeting a video of  former Olympic silver medallist and Minister of State For Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore's gymming. The caption said, “While doing duty we've no time for physical fitness. But my Olympian colleague @Ra_THORe manages some time & gives me a tough challenge.”

Accepting Rathore’s challenge , Rijiju posted a video to prove his fitness level. Young friends, stay away frm drugs, be fit. Let's build @narendramodi ji’s #NewIndia dream. I took out 30 mins frm work 2 respond @Ra_ THORe

In response to this, Rathore said: Ha ha ha...despite your hectic schedule, YOU are beyond competition AND are an inspiration. @KirenRejiju#IAmNewIndia

The videos of the two ministers intimidated senior colleagues!

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu tweeted: Getting intimidated by the huge commitment of @Ra_THORe & @KirenRejiju for fitness&rigorous regime they follow.Wish 1 could do bit like them.”

Rathore’s response to Prabhu was sweet and full of respect: “Sir @sureshprabhu ji  we are happy and proud that YOU are keeping @RailMinIndia fit which is tougher anyday :)”

And this is what Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel said on Rijiju and Rathore fitness videos: @KirenRijuju @Ra_THORe Our very own Rocky Balboa :)”
