Jammu: After nearly two months of suspense, People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti hinted at joining hands with BJP to form government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a party function, Mehbooba said that she was not afraid of criticism on the issue but wanted a signal from the Centre that it would do everything for the welfare of people of the state.
"I am not a stubborn person. If it is for welfare of the state then surely government will be formed," she said.
"For us, the decision taken by my father.., if that aim and that aspiration is fulfilled then I am not afraid if people blame me for going with BJP whether they feel good or bad. If people are benefitted then there is no issue," she added.
Mehbooba further added that if she feels that the Centre has a place for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in its heart, she would not hesitate in becoming the chief minister of the state and that it would be a matter of honour for her.
Meanwhile, the state of Jammu and Kashmir continues to be under Governor's Rule, which was imposed on January 8, following the sudden demise of former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
