New Delhi, Oct 9: Jhanvi Kapoor is a store-house of talent and good looks, both at the same time. This is rare and this is the reason that every Bollywood filmmaker worth his salt wants to cast her in his film. But Sridevi and Jhanvi reposed their faith in maverick filmmaker with magical skills, Karan Johar. They waited until a right script hit them. The film in which Jhanvi was to make her debut was Nagaraj Manjule’s Sairat. But no more. If initial reports are to be believed then the film is shelved and Karan is very particular about Jhanvi's career and does not want to take a chance.
But what was the reason? “It worked like a charm in Marathi because the story of a forbidden love affair across caste lines was anchored to the Maharashtrian milieu. Karan Johar wanted to relocate the plot to a more upmarket milieu and make it more Romeo & Juliet than play on caste. In doing so, the plot has become like any other love story. Furthermore, Shashank Khaitan (who is to direct the Hindi remake of Sairat) wants to do a lighter take on the original,” says a source close to project to a leading website. So now either the entire script is twisted or a new brilliant script falls in Karan Johar's lap. News24Bureau
