Indian actors Sridevi, Shashi Kapoor honoured at Oscars 2018

New Delhi, March 5: The biggest and the most revered event on the Culture events calendar, the Oscars,is here. 90th Academy Awards are being held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.  Sridevi and Sashi Kapoor were honoured in the event In Memoriam. Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri are the hot favourites. 

Jam’s Eddie Vedder took to the stage the perform for the In Memoriam segment. Significantly for Indian fans, the late Sridevi, who died this month and Shashi Kapoor, who died in December, 2017, were honoured.

Sridevi died last week in Dubai due to accidental drowning at a hotel bathtub. Her mortal remains were cremated in Mumbai on Wednesday after several fans and film fraternity paid their last respects. She was 54. In a career that lasted 50 years, Sridevi acted in 300 films in various languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Some of her iconic films include "Sadma", "Nagina", "Mr India", "Khuda Gawah", "Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari", "Kshana Kshanam" and "Govinda Govinda".
