Mumbai: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Wednesday said that playing Hanuman Chalisa outside mosques is not a one-day affair, but will go on till the Maharashtra government is in line with what the Supreme Court has said about loudspeakers.
The MNS chief said this is not a religious issue but a social issue.
"When repeated appeals don't work, protest is the only way," he said.
Addressing a press conference at his residence in Mumbai, Raj Thackeray said, "As far as I know, there are more than 1,500 mosques in Mumbai. Out of these, 135 mosques performed azaan at 5 am in violation of the guidelines. I police I want to ask what action will you take against these mosques or is the action only action will be taken against our workers."
