Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is contemplating to implement the 'one leader, one post' policy in the party. This may be discussed in depth in the organizational meeting of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to be held on June 5.
Apart from West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamta Banerjee, all senior leaders including party's youth organization President Abhishek Banerjee, state president Subrata Baksi, general secretary Partha Chatterjee will be present in the meeting. Prashant Kishor, who was the party's election strategist in the recently concluded assembly elections, will also be present.
According to information received from party sources, all the party's MPs, MLAs, ministers, chairman and administrators of municipal bodies have also been asked to attend the meeting. Party sources said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) district president who has been made minister this time can be relieved of the post of district president and new people can be given this charge in their place.
In the meeting, a decision may also be taken to remove Kanthi MP Shishir Adhikari from the post of Trinamool Congress (TMC) chairman in East Medinipur district. Shishir had joined the BJP before the assembly elections.
Arup Rai may be relieved from the post of chairman of Howrah district organization. Arup Rai is presently the state's cooperative minister and administrator of Howrah Municipal Corporation. Agriculture Marketing Minister Biplab Mitra may be relieved from the post of chairman of South Dinajpur district Trinamool Congress (TMC). Similarly, several ministers holding different positions in the party may be relieved from those posts.
According to party sources, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) wants to move slowly on this policy so that there is no feeling of dissent and dissatisfaction in the party. In the organizational meeting, a decision mayalso be taken to take back those people who have expressed their desire to return to the party.
