Kolkata: The TMC led by Mamata Banerjee has formed the government for the third consecutive time in West Bengal.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee took the oath of Chief Minister for the third consecutive time today after achieving a landslide victory in the West Bengal Election 2021. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar administered the oath of office and secrecy. The newly elected MLAs will take oath on May 6 and 7.
The swearing-in ceremony was very simplistic because of the coronavirus pandemic. Mamata Banerjee was sworn in alone and no minister has sworn along with her.
During the ceremony, only Mamata Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar appeared on the stage. Both of them greeted each other with folded hands.
At the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Dhankar, TMC leader Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee and party's political strategist Prashant Kishore were seen. Apart from these, Pradeep Bhattacharya and some TMC MLAs attended the function. No industrialist attended the function.
The BJP boycotted the ceremony.
The TMC has come to power for the third consecutive time by winning 213 out of 292 seats in the West Bengal Election 2021. The BJP has won 77 seats. Other parties have won two seats.
