Kolkata: The speculation and excitement over the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections 2021 are constantly increasing. Elections are to be held in eight phases in the state, for which complete preparations have been made.
West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has released the list of 291 candidates in the 294-seat assembly. Mamata Banerjee herself declared the candidates' list in a press conference. Mamata Banerjee will contest from the Nandigram seat.
Among the prominent TMC leaders, Sayogani Ghosh has been nominated from Asansol South, Kaushiki Mukherjee from Krishnanagar North, Madan Mitra from Kamarhati, Sujit Bose from Vidhannagar, actress Sayantika Banerjee from Bankura and cricketer Manoj Tiwari from Shibpur seat.
This time the TMC has not nominated any leader who is over 80 years of age. In the list, 28 new candidates have been nominated. The TMC has given tickets to 50 women and 42 Muslims.
