New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the people of West Bengal on the occasion of Durga Puja on Thursday.
"Durga Puja is an auspicious occasion, which celebrates the victory of good over evil. We pray to Maa Durga to bless us with strength, happiness and good health," PM Modi said while wishing the people on the occasion of Mahashashti.
PM Modi inaugurated a puja pandal in Salt Lake through video link.
"Whenever the need was felt in the history of India, Bengal has always led India and is the way. Many famous people came from Bengal and contributed a lot to guide the nation," he said.
Taking the names of Bengali freedom fighters, writers, artists and others, PM Modi said, "If I continue to take the names of such Bengalis, the whole day will pass, but the names will continue."
With the Bengal assembly elections to take place next year, the BJP made elaborate arrangements for PM Modi's virtual rally. TV screens were installed in all 78,000 election booth areas across the state.
