New Delhi, News24 Bureau, Jan 8: Reacting to the SC verdict on reinstating CBI director Alok Verma, a jubilant Rahul Gandhi said that now no one can save PM Narendra Modi and he indeed is answerable on the Rafale Deal.
" No one can save Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Rafale investigation and the entire nation will know "without a shadow of doubt" that he has taken Rs 30,000 crore of people's money and given it to his "friend" Anil Ambani," Congress president Rahul Gandhi said on a day the Supreme Court reinstated Central Bureau of Investigation Director Alok Verma.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Gandhi said the CBI chief was removed at 1 am as he was about to begin an investigation into the Rafale jet agreement and Prime Minister Modi and his government cannot run away from a probe into the deal."The CBI chief was ousted at 1 am in the night because he was about to begin a probe into the Rafale deal. The CBI chief has been reinstated and we have got some relief. Now let's see what happens," he told reporters."They cannot run away from Rafale, it is impossible. Modi ji ran away from a debate. He should have discussed with us the Rafale issue, in the people's court. No one can save them from Rafale, as Rafale is the truth. No one can run away from the truth," he said.Alok Verma may have been reinstated as the CBI director and this comes as a big morale booster for the officer, but all his problems are not over yet. A select committee comprising of the PM Narendra Modi, the CJI and the Leader of Opposition will decide on what action, if at all any, must be taken against Alok Verma. This decision has been taken by the Supreme Court today as it reinstated him as the CBI director. The Supreme Court on Tuesday restored the powers of the CBI Director Alok Verma as it set aside the Centre's decision to divest him of his powers to function as the head of the investigating agency. Alok Verma was sent on leave by the government after a feud between him and his deputy, CBI special director Rakesh Asthana, became public. Both CBI top bosses were pointing an accusing finger against each other. While restoring Verma's powers, a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice K.M. Joseph said that the matter will go to the selection committee which will look into the issue.
