Chamoli (Uttarakhand): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with Governor Gurmeet Singh, on Thursday celebrated Diwali with the soldiers in Chamoli district.
"Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Governor Lieutenant general (retired) Gurmit Singh on Thursday celebrated Diwali with the soldiers at Mana East Camp, Garhwal Scouts in Chamoli district," Chief Minister's Office (CMO) informed.
Earlier on Wednesday, Chief Minister Dhami and the Governor had offered prayers at Gurudwara Nanakmatta Sahib in Udham Singh Nagar.
Meanwhile, the Kedarnath Temple was decorated with eight quintals of flowers on the eve of Diwali on Wednesday, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Uttarakhand.
As per the Ministry of Culture, PM Modi will visit Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand on Friday where he will unveil the statue, and inaugurate the Samadhi of Adi Shankaracharya which has been reconstructed after its destruction in the 2013 Uttarakhand floods.
Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate key infrastructure projects worth Rs 130 crores, including Saraswati Retaining Wall Aasthapath and Ghats, Mandakini Retaining Wall Aasthapath, Tirth Purohit Houses and Garud Chatti bridge on river Mandakini. He is also scheduled to address a public rally during his visit.
