New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman envisioned a future-ready Indian Railways as she announced new Rail Plans. While announcing the Union Budget, the Finance Minister announced Rs 1.15 lakh crore for Idnian Railways. She also spoke of the commissioning of the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors.
"I am providing a record sum of Rs 1,10,055 crores for Railways of which Rs 1,07,100 crores is for Capital Expenditure only," said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
"Indian Railways has prepared a National Rail Plan for India 2030. The plan is to create a future-ready railways system by 2030 - bringing down logistic cost for industry is at the core of a strategy to enable Make in India, Sitharaman added.
Safety measures undertaken in past yrs have borne results. To further strengthen, high-density network &highly utilised network routes of Railways will be provided with indigenously developed automatic train protection system that eliminates train collision due to human error, the Finance Minister further said.
