New Delhi: Election Commission has announced elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, West Bengal and Puducherry. All the 234 seats in Tamil Nadu will go to the polls on April 6 in one phase.
Along with this, the code of conduct has also come into force in electoral states. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora announced the election dates at Vigyan Bhavan on Friday, saying that like Bihar assembly elections, Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will also get 1 hour more to vote.
Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that adequate deployment of CAPF would be ensured for the assembly elections. Sensitive, highly sensitive areas have been identified and advance deployment has already been done. All election personnel will be vaccinated by Kovid-19 before the elections for the 5 assemblies.
The Election Commission said that the Corona guidelines will be fully followed in the election. If the candidate can enroll online then 5 people including the candidate will be allowed for the election campaign. However, roadshows can also be done following the guidelines.
In Tamil Nadu, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and BJP alliance are up against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Congress alliance. AIDMK won 134 seats in the 2016 election, while DMK won 89 seats. Congress had got 8 seats.
