Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalia Lama received covid-19 vaccine on Saturday at Zonal Hospital in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. His office expressed gratitude to the Indian government for administering the spiritual leader with the first dose of the vaccine.
After taking his first dose of the vaccine, he urged people to come forward and do their bid in defeating the virus by getting vaccinated.
The Central Tibetan Administration's (CTA) had urged the Indian government to facilitate the spiritual leader's vaccination nearly two months ago, Palden, the Health Secretary of the CTA told ANI on Wednesday.
India started its second phase of vaccination against covid-19 on Monday. In this phase, people aged above 60 and those between the age of 45 and 59 with comorbidities will get the vaccine administered. The country had started first phase of covid-19 vaccination on January 16 with two approved vaccines -- Covishield and Covaxin. In the first phase, the country inoculated healthcare and frontline workers.
