Kolkata: A big train accident was averted in West Bengal due to the wisdom of a seven-year-old child. Deep Naskar, a resident of Mukundpur, was playing on the side of the railway line in front of his house on Monday afternoon. Suddenly his eyes fell on a crack in the railway line. Sensing the danger, Deep immediately ran towards his home and informed his mother Sonali Naskar.
Sonali also informed the people around without delay. After this they all came on the railway line with red clothes. After some time the Sealdah-bound Canning Staff Special was about to pass from there. Seeing the train coming, all the people who were standing there started shaking the red clothes in their hands to stop the train.
The train driver saw people moving red clothes from a distance and stopped the train. The Vidyadharpur booking supervisor was contacted after the train stopped. From there the employees of the engineering department arrived and started repairing the line. The repair work lasted for 40 minutes, after that the train was dispatched.
"The railway line in which there was a crack, it was welding, which had opened. Because of that child, the train survived the accident. I have asked the railway staff to contact the child's family. He has done a great job. He will be given a prize of Rs 5,000. Steps will be taken by the Railways to increase the enthusiasm of the child. A small child studying only in the second grade showed his intelligence, for which everyone is appreciating him," Sealdah DRM SP Singh said.
