New Delhi: The Republic Day celebrations will start from January 23 instead of January 24 this year in order to include the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
Earlier, the Narendra Modi government had started celebrating Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's birthday as 'Parakram Diwas'.
The center plans to promote sites associated with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose across the country. In October last year, the news agency PTI reported that the Ministry of Tourism was planning a curated tour to commemorate the anniversary of the formation of the Azad Hind government, announced by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on October 21, 1943.
Parakram Diwas or Deshnayak Diwas?
Earlier, political controversy had erupted over the exact name of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birthday celebrations.
The central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, celebrates Netaji's birth anniversary as Parakram Diwas.
On the contrary, the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee celebrated Netaji's birth anniversary as Deshnayak Diwas.
