Prayagraj: While the Allahabad University's convocation ceremony was being held at the Senate Hall campus on the varsity campus, a group of students tried to forcibly enter the campus from Union Hall gate of the Arts campus, but were detained by the police.

The concerned student's group has been actively staging protest in the varsity for the past few months.

The protesting students have been demanding students' union elections, which is on hold from 2019. The agitating students held the picture of freedom fighter and revolutionary Bhagat Singh.

Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan was the chief guest at the convocation ceremony. About 263 exemplary students were awarded medals, while 550 students recieved their PhD Degrees on the occasion.
