New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday evening. It will be organized online at 5 pm today. 


The current crisis arising due to the coronavirus pandemic in the country is likely to be discussed in this meeting. The fears of a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in India have increased in recent days.


Apart from this, the possibility of discussion is also being expressed regarding the induction of new faces in the central cabinet. Cabinet ministers, ministers of state and ministers with independent charge will attend this meeting to be held virtually.


Apart from this, PM Modi is likely to review the functioning of some ministries. Let us inform that a high-level meeting was held at the Prime Minister's residence on Tuesday. Apart from this, a cabinet meeting can also be held at 11 am today on the issue related to the conduct of the monsoon session of Parliament. 


After this, the Prime Minister will hold a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers this evening. Usually, the meeting of the Council of Ministers is held at an interval of every two-three months to discuss important issues, but this time it is happening early.


Political observers and BJP internal sources are considering today's meeting of the Council of Ministers as important. In this meeting, the work of the Ministry of Road and Transport and the Ministries of Civil Aviation and Telecom can be reviewed. 


The meeting is going to take place a week after the meetings of the cabinet and state level ministers in various groups to review the performance of their respective ministries.


It is believed that the cabinet expansion will be done before the monsoon session of Parliament starting from July 19. There is a lot of discussion about cabinet expansion before the monsoon session. 


There are currently 60 ministers in the PM Modi government and their number can go up to 79. In such a situation, the stir of cabinet expansion has intensified amidst this exercise of discussions and meetings with Prime Minister Modi's ministers and senior party leaders.
