New Delhi: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport at Jewar, which is intended to be a milestone for the industrial, economic and tourism development of Uttar Pradesh.
The Noida International Airport at Jewar, which is has been built on 5845 hectares of land at a cost of Rs 29,650 crore at Jewar in Greater Noida adjacent to Delhi, will be the largest airport in Asia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address a public meeting following the inauguration of the Noida International Airport at Jewar.
The first phase of laying the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport at Jewar will be completed in 2023-24 in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
The first phase of Noida International Airport will cost around Rs 8,914 crore and will carry 1.2 crore passengers annually. Initially, two runways will be operational at the Noida International Airport at Jewar. The contract for the development of this airport has been awarded to Zurich Airport.
A statement issued on behalf of the PMO said that Jawar Airport would prove to be a gateway for North India and would change the face of Uttar Pradesh.
"Tomorrow, 25th November is a major day for India’s and Uttar Pradesh’s strides in infra creation. At 1 PM, the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport will be laid. This project will significantly boost commerce, connectivity and tourism," PM Modi posted on Twitter.
"Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the Noida International Airport at Jewar will give a new lease of life to multi-faceted development and will also be a means of generating extensive employment," Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath told the media.
The Noida International Airport at Jewar will be the second international airport in the Delhi-NCR region. Once it is ready, the load on the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi will be reduced.
The Noida International Airport at Jewar is slated to become a major hub for industrial activities and teh service sector in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The Noida International Airport at Jewar is intended to provide convenience to the people of many districts of western UP including Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Agra, Mathura and cities like Faridabad, Palwal and Vallabhgarh of Haryana.
