New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended congratulatory wished to the Indian contingent which clinched a total of 11 medals at the Junior World Wrestling Championships 2021 in Ufa, Russia. Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister wished the best for their future endeavours.


"More power to the talented wrestlers! At the Junior Wrestling Championships including 4 Silvers. Kudos to the team for the success and best wishes for their future endeavours," the Prime Minister tweeted.

In another tweet, the Prime Minister congratulated athletes for bringing home 2 Silver medals and a Bronze medal at World Athletics Under20 Nairobi 2021. Athletics is gaining popularity across India and this is a great sign for the times to come. Best wishes to our hardworking athletes, he added.




Yash (74kg), Pruthvi Babasehb Patil (92kg) and Anirudh (125kg) bagged bronze medals in the championship, while Ravinder (men's 61kg freestyle) was the sole silver medalist from the men's side as the team finished their campaign with six medals overall. Gourav Baliyan (79kg) and Deepak (97kg) also ended with a bronze medal.


In women's freestyle, Bipasha (76kg), Sanju Devi (62kg) and Bhateri (65kg) clinched silver. Simran (50kg) and Sito (55kg) clinched bronze medals to add to India's tally. The women's wrestling at the Junior World Championships came to an end for India with three silver and two bronze medals.
