Manish Kumar, New Delhi: Even though crude oil is trading close to $40 per barrel in the international market, the trend of increase in the retail prices of petrol and diesel has started again in the country.

Due to this, there is a double attack of inflation on the general public, which is also troubled by expensive vegetables.

On Monday, the three state oil companies increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Petrol prices in the capital Delhi increased by 7 paise to Rs 81.53 per liter. Diesel rose by 18 paise to Rs 71.25 per liter.

Petrol in Delhi has become costlier by 46 paise and diesel by 79 paise per liter in the last 4 days.

Oil companies contend that the strengthening of the dollar against the rupee and rising oil prices in the international market has led to an increase in the prices of petrol and diesel.
