Petrol, diesel prices drop by 15 paise, check latest rates
While Petrol price was cut by 11 to 15 paise per litre, diesel price also decreased by 14 to 16 paise on the day.
New Delhi: Petrol, diesel prices were dropped across the country on Tuesday a day after the pause, according to the latest updates released by Indian Oil Corporation. While Petrol price was cut by 11 to 15 paise per litre, diesel prices also decreased by 14 to 16 paise.
In the national capital, Delhi, petrol prices have been reduced by 15 paise from ₹ 101.64 per litre to ₹ 101.49 per litre and diesel rates have been cut by 15 paise from ₹ 89.07 per litre to ₹ 88.92 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol and diesel prices are at ₹ 107.66 per litre and ₹ 96.64 per litre respectively.
In Kolkata, the petrol and diesel saw price cut of 11 and 15 paise. With the revision, a litre of petrol was sold at Rs 101.82 and diesel Rs 91.98 in West Bengal’s capital. Chennai retailed a litre of petrol at Rs 99.20 with a price cut of 12 paise, while diesel price decreased by 14 paise to bring down the fuel price to Rs 93.52 per litre in Tamil Nadu’s capital.
Considering the crude oil prices in international markets and rupee-dollar exchange rates, State-run oil refiners such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum revise fuel rates on a daily basis. All the changes in fuel rates are applied at 6 am.
Fuel prices had been on the rise in the country since May 4 after the assembly elections in states and union territories including West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
In the month of July, the price for petrol was raised nine times, while diesel rates went up five times. Earlier in May-June, the prices of petrol and diesel had increased 16 times. The round of increase in petrol and diesel prices had started since May 4. After this, the price of petrol in Delhi has gone up by Rs 11.44 and diesel by Rs 09.14 per litre.
