New Delhi, August 26: There's some good news for passengers who will be travelling by India's first 'private' train as they may be eligible for a compensation if it is delayed by over an hour.

The first Tejas train is likely to start from Delhi to Lucknow from October by the state-run IRCTC.

IRCTC is looking to offer facilities like a second meal and putting up vending machines to serve free tea and coffee.

IRCTC is also hoping to target senior citizens, who are entitled to a 40% discount on their on rail fares.

Apart from a burglary cover for your home while you are on the train, free travel insurance of Rs 50 lakh may be thrown in with the Tejas tickets

While, travelers in Tejas will have only two toilets in each coach for their use instead of the four that they are used to. This move is in order to free space for service and better management of food.

Although railways has allowed free pricing, IRCTC wants to keep fare prices in line with those offered on Shatabdi. Dynamic pricing model to cash in on the rush during festivals is also expected to function.

While, during the lean season, tickets may be offered at a discount to the base price.

Railway ministry is largely banking on the outcome of the IRCTC experiment to open up more routes for running similar trains in the next few years.
